Going South for the Winter Takes on a Whole New Meaning...

Well no one has ever called any of the Caranis boring. We definitely all have the travel bug and love to explore. Now my sister Gina is taking it to the extreme. She is literally going as far South as you can get...as in Antarctica. She will be working in a research center there beginning in October. I don't think any of us will be visiting her, but I am sure she will have some great stories. Crazy girl (I say that with love Gina).

Fun Times in Mazama

On Friday Becky, Darin, Jay and I got an early start to our three day weekend by hitting the road to Mazama. Becky, Darin and I were going up to run in the Mazama Fun Run 10K on Saturday and Jay is our pit crew. One of the first things we saw when we got there was local wildlife. This is Davidson, House Cat Extraordinaire.

We had a great time Friday night and woke up Saturday to a beautiful day. Darin copied me and wore the same shirt... :-)

I am smiling because I can see the finish line at this point. Phew! It was a beautiful trail run, but hot!

On our way home Jay and I stopped to hunt for asparagus. There was quite a bit, but it had all gone to seed and was pretty skinny. We decided to leave it there for next spring.

Hooray for Cookies!

The matching game: which of these things looks like the other???

Do you see it? That is my friend Desiree in the purple shirt. Ever since she started working at the Hospital people have been calling her Sara and vice versa. They also ask if we are sisters. It is especially bad when I wear my glasses and we both have our hair down. We were getting ready to deliver cookies to all of the departments.

Here is Becky receiving our cookies. This is what she is thinking "How many of these do you think I can eat before Sara gets back? Hee Hee Hee."

And here is Anne, Becky, myself, and Kate after we have had at least three cookies and are suffering from sugar overload. Hooray for cookies!

I Love my Sisters!

It is not very often that all three of us are together anymore so last October when Jay and I got married was a treat. This is us waiting to pick up my dress right after a mani-pedi session.

Don't they clean up nice? :-) This was at the wedding. Love you Gina and Carla!!!

Downward Facing Dog

Yesterday at work we had an intro to yoga session during lunch. Anne took photos and is threatening me with keeping this for blackmail so I figure I will beat her to the punch and post it for all the world to see. Clearly my form is not the best. It looks like my head is screwed on backwards or something.

Duckies and Fishies!

I apologize some of these pictures are sideways. I don't know how to turn them around! If you can handle it, please read on. :-)

Jay and I stayed the night in Chelan on Saturday, had a yummy dinner at the Hungry Belly, and then fished on Sunday. It was a beautiful day and one of the first times we really had our new (to us) boat out.

Now, this is a pretty sweet self portrait. :-) You can't quite tell, but my hat says First Mate. I practically run the ship.........HA!

These ducks literally dive bombed our boat and then hung out while we fed them corn we were using for bait.

Jay caught two fish, which we just had for dinner. Mmmmmmmmmm. I caught none. That is usually how it goes. Oh well!

Sweet Flight

Jay came with me to Nashville a couple of weeks ago for a training. Nashville was hot and according to us, humid. We didn't do a lot of sight seeing because the hotel's air conditioning was much more comfortable than outside. However, on our flight outside of Seattle the pilot got permission to fly approximately one mile from Mt. Rainer. It was awesome.

Then Jay took this picture over the plains somewhere. I was looking through the camera and thought he had taken a picture of a tile floor. Then I realized it was out of the plane window. Pretty cool.

This Blog Is For Jay Too

Jay informed me that so far (in its one day of existence) this blog was only about me, but the title is Sara AND Jay. So in all fairness this post will be all about Jay.

Here is Jay's other love: his 1964 Baja Bug he is building.

This is what keeps Jay from working on his bug: working on the house. Luckily it is all finished! However, at soon as it was finished we put it on the market.

And here is one of the reasons I love him: snuggling with his favorite puppy Chloe.

Yea for Blogging!

So I have done the whole FaceBook thing and think that maybe I will like blogging better. Plus Nicke, Jenni, and now Becky have such neat blogs that I couldn't resist jumping on the band wagon and being one of the "cool" kids.
As it turns out 2009 is a running year for me. So far I have run the St. Paddy's Day Dash in Seattle. That is me in the red hat. I didn't have any green on, I know, pretty lame.

Then I ran my first half marathon in Wenatchee on April 18th. Believe it or not I actually had fun and was crazy enough to sign up for another one at the end of June. I am beginning to re-think that decision, but it is too late now!

Last weekend Becky and Darin and I ran in the Apple Blossom 5K Fun Run. That's me that you can barely see in the green visor. I did manage to run my best time ever at 29 minutes, but I am pretty sure that is because the first mile is all down hill! Oh well, it still counts right?

My next run is with Becky and Darin again on May 23 in Mazama for their 10K fun run. Jenni and Lars will be running also, but I don't anticipate seeing them until the pancake breakfast: they will smoke me. After that it is the Rock n Roll half marathon in Seattle on June 27. I am not signed up for anymore at the moment, but if all goes well and my body holds up who knows what will happen?!

Thanks for visiting my blog!
