Oh Happy Day

The dishwasher ran tonight!  And no leaks!  Thank you so much Husband!  And as Jay said, "Hello old friend." ha ha.  Oh Sunday I even cooked.  Miracles never cease.  And Jenni, don't have kitchen envy. :-)  It is still pretty small.  One of these days I will have a kitchen warming party!

Country Captain Chicken from The Joy of Cooking.  Very yummy, Jay and I give it two thumbs up.

And...guess what we just did?! Booked an October trip to Barbados!!!  For 12 days and 11 nights we will be here.  Relaxing, swimming with turtles, kite surfing and hoping for no hurricanes.  Now we just have to get the house painted before we leave.  So excited!

Concrete, Classmates & Cats

Concrete counter tops take two.  We are happy with the way they turned out in this house and I think overall the process went much smoother.  For one, Ralfie didn't jump on them at the the last minute!
15 bags of concrete

A concrete mixer = happy Sara.  Last time I mixed 20 bags in a wheelbarrow.  This was a HUGE improvement.

Formed up and ready to roll.

Those bottom forms will come off soon, then we acid wash and seal.

We liked the leaves last time so we did it again, but this time Jay made a cool pattern.  It is pretty hard to photograph, and yes those leaves come out just leaving the impression.

Saturday night was also my ten year high school reunion.  I hated high school so I am pretty surprised I even made an appearance.  It was okay though because it was a small turnout and a few of us just went to dinner and the bar.
Mattea, Eva, me, Abby, Angie

Jay is still fishing.  Can you believe it? He has filled up one catch record card and is working on his second.  Here is his second Chinook of the year.  And I just got a text that he caught another one.  Who wants fish?

And Lucifer Lucy? Well I think we are keeping her.  She is a bit of a holy terror.  Lucky for her she is so cute.  And I am introducing her to the outside.  That means two important things. One: no more cleaning the litter box (yuck).  Two: she can burn off some energy and quit harassing hanging out with us 24/7.
Chloe is a good big sister.  She even shares her toys!

Ralfie, Lucy, Chloe

Jay talks tough, but I think he likes her...it is a Lucy Snowcone!

 She is so TINY.

Ralfie came in and this is what happened.  He just walked away!  We were worried for no reason I guess.

She is hissing at him now as I write this and it is making Chloe nervous.  Maybe she doesn't realize she is so much smaller than he is??? Somebody better tell her.

Three animals.  Do we really want to give her up?  She and Chloe do match after all...

Mini Seattle Vacation

Amber and I headed to Enumclaw on Thursday to stay with her Aunt Roxy and Uncle Steve to help celebrate Roxy's birthday.  I used to go over all the time when we were in high school, but it has been awhile since I have been able to participate in birthday weekend.  It was a gorgeous Seattle weekend and we took full advantage.

Watching Steve and Amber making us bbq pizzas.

While Roxy and I enjoyed Steve's "Pookie" Drink.  Recipe: classified.

Appetizers on the deck at the Pink Door in Pike Place Market.

Drinks at Karma Martini Bar in Belltown.

While being serenaded by Michael from Tallahassee.

Watching the sunset over the Olympics at Alki.

Then on Saturday friends came over for a barbecue in their beautiful backyard.  Wolfgang is practicing his marshmallow roasting techniques.

So he and Susan can enjoy one of the best s'mores ever.  Secret: made with Reeses Peanut Butter Cups!  Side note: Susan is Steve's sister and the first time I went to Italy by myself I took the train up to Germany where I met up with Roxy and Steve and their son Chris and we stayed with Susan and Wolfie for awhile.  I hadn't seen them since and they just happened to be in the States visiting for a few weeks. It was fun to see them.

Have you ever seen a more gorgeous horseshoe pit?  Amber and I played and took a few divots out of the moss...sorry Roxy and Steve!

And then look what I found when I got home!  Jay built the island and it looks great.  He also caught five more Sockeye on Saturday.  He would have tried for one more, but he filled his catch record card and didn't have another one with him.  That was his goal for the season so he succeeded!  Nice work Jay.

Thank you Steve, Roxy, and Amber for a great weekend.  See you soon!
